2012 Projected Budget Shortfalls State-by-State


Nearly half of of the fifty states are projecting budget shortfalls of over $1 billion dollars for fiscal year 2012.

California has the highest projected budget shortfall, needing to come up with a whopping $25.4 billion just to balance the budget. Illinois comes in second with a projected shortfall of $15 billion. In third is Texas, which will need $13.4 billion to meet its fiscal responsibilities in 2012.
